How to use wireless LAN service (WiFi) in Ryukoku University Seta Campus

Preparation

(1) user ID and (2) password for Ryukoku University Single Sign-On System (全学認証, Zengaku Ninshou). are required for the use.

If you are a student or a faculty member, you have them. Ask Information Media Center (情報メディアセンター) staff.

If you are a visitor, you have a chance you obtain a temporary account. Ask your host or someone in charge.

Connection to wireless network

In your device’s wireless LAN setting, connect to the wireless network with ESSID “ryu-wireless.” Please note that neither “ryu-guest”, “ryu-access”, nor “ryu-airnet“ are eligible for this service.

Configuration of proxy servers

Configure proxy servers for this wireless network. "Auto" may work. If you configure manually, an example configuration is the following.

http
hostname cache.st.ryukoku.ac.jp port 8080
https
hostname cache.st.ryukoku.ac.jp port 8080
ftp
hostname cache.st.ryukoku.ac.jp port 8080
socks
hostname socks.st.ryukoku.ac.jp port 1080

Authentication

Try to open any web page with your web browser. An authentication dialog for “Ryukoku University TOUGOUNINSYOU” pops up. Authenticate yourself with

User ID
user ID (1)
Password
password (2)

Because a firewall is configured, one cannot either receive e-mails with POP/IMAP, send e-mails with SMTP, or remote login with SSH to hosts outside. One can only browse web through HTTP and HTTPS via proxies. Sorry for inconvenience.

In Omiya and Fukakusa campuses

The same configuration would work though the proxy configuration is not optimal.
